About Us

Morristown-Hamblen Library, serving an area of 67,715 residents, has a collection of approximately 75,918 books and periodicals, with access to many others through Inter-Library Loan (ILL).  In addition, there are more than 3,102 physical audio materials and 140,339 electronic audio downloads available, 8,179 physical video items and over 39,000 titles available through Kanopy, 156 wifi hotspots available for check out, and 608 microfilmed newspapers.  19 computers with internet access are available for use by the general public.  Wireless (Wi-Fi) service is also available inside the library.

Staffing consists of about 20 employees who cover 56 hours of open operation each week.  The full-time staff includes a librarian (director), youth services librarian, a circulation manager, technical services librarian, a marketing and outreach librarian, volunteer coordinator, and a cataloger/acquisitions technician.  The Morristown-Hamblen Library has a dedicated circulation staff who perform other indispensable library functions and answer more than 30,258 reference questions annually.  In addition, numerous volunteers provide essential selfless service to staff and patrons!

Annual expenditures for the library collection total $67,100. Patrons make more than 84,050 visits annually and check out physical materials 208,444 times and assist patrons with 77,252 electronic material check outs as needed.  Thirty-eight percent of physical material check-outs are children’s materials. The library wants community members to discover or re-discover the adventures that can be found on the printed page and/or the digital world through your library.
