Summer Reading Begins!    May 13

MHL Presents Unearth a Story Starting May 13, Register for fun reading challenges and have the chance to win cool prizes! Summer Reading Program is open for ages 0-18 and will end on Friday, June 26!

This year’s theme is Unearth a Story! 🦖🪏🦴📖
You can sign your child or teen up any time during our fun, FREE 6-week program.
Stop by the Children’s Library to register and pick up a reading log!
There is an early literacy log for kids age 0-3, a bingo style log for children 4-12, and a reading log for teens to track pages read.
When you complete a reading log, return it to the Children’s Library to get a prize pack! You can complete up to 3 reading logs during the program for more prizes and chances to win a grand prize drawing!
The last day to turn in a reading log is June 26 by noon.
Sprinkled into the 6-week period, there will be some fun, FREE programs targeted for different age groups, and some that allow a mix of different age groups to participate.

Lego Club June 2 & 20

Morristown-Hamblen Library presents: Lego Club Ages 7-17 Tuesday, June 2 @ 4-5pm & Saturday, June 20 @ 2-3pm We will meet in the Community Room Call 423-586-6410 or Text: 423-301-6882 to sign up! A different theme is given each meeting, or you may use your own theme. Legos will be provided. Please do not bring your own. All Legos must stay at the Library at the end of the club meeting. Creations will be displayed in the teen room upstairs for all patrons to see your awesome work!

Junior Paleontologists    June 12

Junior Paleontologists at Morristown-Hamblen Library Test out your paleontology skills while picking for real micro-fossils in sediment from Aurora, NC. Then, test out your knowledge with our Fossil or Fake? game. DOROTHY’S SUPER FUN SPRING GAMES!!

Children are invited to come to the Morristown-Hamblen Library Children’s Room for fun games created by Miss Dorothy, including velcro ball toss, cornhole, and stack ’em.  Everything is FREE, so come and enjoy some family time at the library!


Story Time at the Library

The Children’s Library offers programming for young children on Wednesday mornings from 10:30-11:30 a.m.  We enjoy stories, songs, nursery rhymes, music, dancing, snacks, and play time.  Activities take place in the Community Room.

Read to a Dog Program

Therapy Dog Odie is coming to the Children’s Library every other Saturday at 11am.   Come and share a favorite book with him!  Odie will be here on June 13 and 27, 2026.

Our Read to a Dog program welcomes children to come and practice their reading skills.  Have fun while improving your reading skills with one of our therapy dogs.  If you can’t read yet, you can look at a picture book and explain in your own words what the book is about.  The dogs love to listen to you!  All children and their families are invited.
