2020 Summer Reading Program

Instructions for ReadSquared

In response to COVID-19, Morristown-Hamblen Library has found an alternative way to keep track of summer reading logs. Instead of having paper logs, participants will log their reading through ReadSquared. Once a participant reaches 1000 points on ReadSquared, the library will give the participant a prize pack. Librarians will also have other take home activities for participants to do at home, in lieu of programs hosted by the library.

The instructions for registering on ReadSquared are below:

  • Go to
  • On the right side of the page, it should say “Don’t have an account? Register Now!” Click “Register Now!” link
  • You can register yourself, yourself and children, or your group. Choose which one you would like to do.
  • Answer the required questions.
  • Choose a username and password that you will remember.
  • If you would like to opt out of book recommendations, click on the green “yes” and it will turn into a red “no.”

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call us at 423-586-6410 or email or message us on Facebook!

Lego Club

The Lego Club meets twice a month in the teen area.  Please check at the front desk for the dates and to sign up.  Hope to see you there!

Read to a Dog Program

Our Read to a Dog program for children to come and practice their reading skills is on Saturday mornings in the Children’s Room.  Hope, a Labrador Retriever mix, is here from 11:00 a.m.-noon every other Saturday.  Bertie, an Irish Wolfhound, is here from 11:00 a.m.-noon on alternate Saturdays.  Have fun while improving your reading skills with one of our therapy dogs.  If you can’t read yet, you can look at a picture book and explain in your own words what the book is about.  The dogs love to listen to you!  All children and their families are invited.

Family Fun Evenings

We have activities designed for everyone in your family to enjoy together every other Tuesday.  Family Game Night is on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m.  Family Movie Night is on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m.  These events are held in the Community Room.

Other special events and holiday programs are held during the year.  Please check with the Children’s Librarian for the current program schedule or view our current events calendar.
